Our History

The history of our church has always been rooted in the East Portland community. We are committed to being a church for East Portland. Our roots began in a garage in 1957 and quickly moved to our building at 143rd and Burnside. The original families of Glenfair had the the vision to serve and reach the people of East Portland with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. While the East Portland community has seen many changes, Glenfair Family Church has remained rooted in serving and loving our neighbors for over 60 years.

Our beliefs

These beliefs are core to how we understand our Creator God and enter into a loving relationship with Him. These statements are a summary of what we believe. We invite you to be our guest and learn more about our Great and Loving God.

  • God

There is one God, who exists in a relational love in three, co-equal persons; the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This is a divine mystery that we cannot fully comprehend but celebrate. He is the Creator of the world and the source of all truth. He desires for everyone to know what He is like and to be in a loving relationship with Him.

  • Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ was fully God and fully man, simultaneously. He was born of the Virgin Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit. We believe that he died on the cross, in our place,  to take away the sins of the world, was buried and rose bodily from the grave on three days later. He ascended into heaven and will one day come back again to rule and reign on earth.

  • Holy Spirit

The work of the Holy Spirit is to administer God's grace, redeem believers into relationship with God, to breathe life into the Family of God called the Church and to empower men and women of God to live faithfully to God, demonstrate God's love to our world through serving others.

  • The Bible

The Bible is God's inspired, and authoritative word from Him. It is His way of telling us what He is like and how we can receive a restored relationship with Him. It is also the story of God's Great Rescue plan to save us from our sin. As followers of God, we are to study the Bible and seek to reflect the character and nature of God in our daily lives.

  • Salvation

Eternal life is a gift of God received by placing your faith in Jesus Christ. We believe in the Spirit-filled life and holy living through relying on the power and presence of the Holy Spirit. The man or woman of God is to dedicate their whole life to following God's will for them.
