Giving at Glenfair Family Church

In 2 Corinthians 9:7, the Bible tells us that “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” In the Old Testament book of Proverbs we are told to “Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the first fruits of all your produce” (Proverbs 3:9)

We believe that whatever we have in our lives, whether great or small, are blessings from God. We want to give the first fruits of our time, our energy, and our strength as an act of worship to God. Our finances should be no different from any other part of our lives.

At Glenfair Family Church, we encourage Christians to give “cheerfully” as God leads. We put no compulsion on anyone about how much they give, or if they give at all, believing that the Holy Spirit is perfectly capable of dealing with each of God’s Children on His own. We simply make the means available for people to give cheerfully and to honor God with their first fruits.

Online giving is simply another method for people to give at Glenfair Family Church. Many find that it makes more sense in how they handle their finances than checks or cash do. While some prefer to use Credit Cards for reasons of benefits programs (air miles, etc.) we would strongly urge that no believer give by going into debt. If you use your credit card, make sure it’s from your “first fruits” and not from a place of debt.

So, whether you use Online Giving or prefer to write out a check and put it in in the plate during offering, do so with “cheer” and from your “first fruits.” God doesn’t ask us to give because He needs anything. He asks us to give so we can have a share in His work and receive the blessing that comes from giving (Acts 20:35).

Finally, we greatly appreciate your finical support of the ministries at Glenfair Family Church. We honor specific requests and designated giving, but if the designated ministry’s needs have been met or exceeded, we reserve the right to distribute funds to the areas of greatest need.

All financial gifts are tax deductible according to IRS rules and regulations.
